CMS Montessori

Montessori in the 7/8 building is focused on building independent learners and community minded individuals.  We strive to make meaningful connections to the different curricular subjects through themes and cross-curricular learning opportunities.

We employ a Standards Based Evaluation System, so the focus is on the learning of concepts not the points for completion. Students are evaluated on their understanding of the objectives/standards based on assessments.  

About Mr. Prinz

I began my teaching degree in 1999 after graduating from Central Michigan University with a degree in History, Science, and Middle-Level Education.  Shortly after starting at Okemos PS, I earned my Masters Degree in Middle-Level Education from Central Michigan University.  In 2009, Mr. Coty and I agreed to lead the Secondary Montessori Program in Okemos, one of the few secondary programs in the State of Michigan.  Graduated from Xavier University with a Masters in Montessori and am AMS Montessori certified. 

I coach or have coached Wrestling at all levels from Kindergarten to High School.  I have also Coached Football for a number of years. When not teaching or coaching I enjoy reading, golf, outdoor activities, gardening, and spending time with my wife and son.
