    Assistant Superintendent of Instruction

    Assumes major responsibility the K-12 instructional program.  Plans, develops and implements functions related to curriculum, instruction and staff development. 


    • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience and previous administrative experience 
    • Valid teaching certificate; Valid Administrative Certificate
    • Master’s degree required; Specialists or Doctorate Degree preferred

    Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

    • Provides leadership in planning and conducting curriculum studies and district improvement process
    • Assumes primary responsibility for the development, coordination, articulation, evaluation and improvement of the total educational program
    • Oversees the district’s assessment program, including state and district testing, as well as classroom assessment practices
    • Oversees and ensures professional development activities which address instructional needs
    • Develops district instructional budgets
    • Stays current on state and federal trends and requirements pertaining to instruction and accountability
    • Oversees budget and programming for all state and federal grants
    • Supervision of elementary administrators and technology department

    Salary:                        $120,000-$124,000
                                         Commensurate with experience

    The following position is available for the 2019-2020 school year:

    High School Athletic Director


    • Master’s degree in K-12 Administration or Athletics Administration preferred
    • Minimum of five years’ experience as a teacher and coach preferred.
    • Knowledge of the overall operation of an athletic program. 


    • Maintains, organizes and administers the overall program of interscholastic athletics in accordance with existing policies, rules and regulations of the Okemos Public Schools Board of Education and the Michigan High School Athletic Association.
    • Assists in selecting, assigning and evaluating all coaching personnel.
    • Represents the District with the MHSAA; league, conference and state meetings.
    • Organizes and schedules athletic events.
    • Enforces the athletic code of conduct, processes violations and communicates with parents of the athletes.
    • Leadership and coordination for multiple athletic department functions and events such as student advisory group, Okemos Hall of Fame, OHS Boosters
    • Responsible for promoting and marketing Okemos athletics and athletes through television programming, social media, website and other avenues.

    School Psychologist Certification Required


    • Approval by the State Department of Education as a School Psychologist.
    • Education Specialist in Educational Psychology and/or School Psychology.
    • Internship hours (750) in School Psychology.
    • Knowledge and skills commonly used in psychological evaluation and consultation.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form to multiple audiences.
    • Knowledge of requirements of state and federal mandates which directly relate to the evaluation and identification of students with disabilities.
    • High level of analytical ability required to correctly analyze, interpret and report quantitative and qualitative data that may be used to demonstrate and defend a district’s attainment of state and national standards for improvement.
    • Strong understanding of the logic and application of a multi-tiered system of supports and the continuum of behavior and academic supports at all levels (universal/targeted/intensive).
    • Strong understanding of and ability to guide and/or coach building teams through data-based decision making utilizing a problem solving model and implementation in tiered levels of interventions.
    • Expertise in assessment including curriculum based measurement and diagnostic practices.
    • Ability to collect, analyze and use date and research within a strategic planning and continuous improvement process and/or intervention planning.
