Key Dates

Tuesday, July 23 | 4 p.m.

Filing deadline for listing on ballot is due.

Friday, July 26 | 4 p.m.

Withdrawal of nomination must be done in writing, signed by candidate, and served on the school district filing official.

Friday, October 25 | 4 p.m.

Votes cast for a write-in candidate can't be counted unless the candidate filed a Declaration of Intent form.

Tuesday, November 5

General election for Board candidates.

Wednesday, January 1, 2025

Term of office begins for newly elected Board members.

Temporary Board Vacancy

The resignation of Member Mary Gebara has created a temporary board vacancy.

If you are interested in applying to fill the current school board vacancy opening, please submit a resume and letter of interest to Rhianna Walworth using one of the following methods:

Applications must be received by 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17th for consideration. 

The letter of interest should include the following:

  • Why you are interested in serving on the school board
  • Length of Okemos residency
  • If you have students attending Okemos schools
  • Examples of service in schools and the community
  • Evidence of ability to work collaboratively
  • Description of your commitment to education
  • Statement describing your understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the board

Applicants must be a registered voter in the Okemos school district, at least 18 years of age, and a citizen of the United States.
