Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
The Okemos Public Schools Equity Plan was updated over the summer of 2022, so we are ready to create action plans and get to work. We need the help of our whole community to improve upon our already amazing district, and your voice would be a great addition to our equity work.
Our areas of focus include:
- Authentic Selves & Relationships - Key ideas: inclusivity, respect, acceptance, voice, communication, restorative practices, empathy.
- Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Education - Key ideas: Bias, power, privilege, diversity.
- Instruction/Curriculum/
Assessment - Key ideas: Diverse curricular materials, critical thinking skills, bias-free assessments, data analysis. - Policies/Practices/Procedures - Key ideas: School policies, hiring practices, incident reporting.
