Young Fives "Begindergarten" Program
The Okemos Public Schools Begindergarten program is designed for young 5 year-olds and prepares students for Kindergarten. Begindergarten is free to eligible families who reside in the Okemos Public School District. It is hosted at Okemos Public Montessori at Central (4406 Okemos Road) and district transportation is not provided.
A tiered lottery is conducted if more than 20 Okemos Public School residents apply. Preference is given to applicants whose 5th birthday falls between September 2nd and December 1st. If there are remaining vacancies, students with birthdates outside that range may be considered. Information that includes dates and procedures for entering the Begindergarten lottery is typically posted in February and the actual lottery takes place in March.
If you have not entered the Begindergarten lottery, please do not submit any registration/enrollment information to Okemos Public Schools (OPS).
