Caldecott Medal and Honor - A medal presented annually to the illustrator of the most distinguished American picture book for children published in the United States in the preceding year.

Coretta Scott King Author Award - Presented annually to an African American author and an African American illustrator for an outstandingly inspirational and educational contribution published during the previous year.

The Michael L. Printz Award for Excellence in Young Adult Literature (High School) - The Michael L. Printz Award is an award for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature.

Helping Your Child Become A Reader - Includes information about why and how to use language skills (talking and listening, reading) from the U.S. Department of Education.

Reading Rockets for Parents - A comprehensive site from WETA public broadcasting to help parents launch their young readers.

Reading Tips for Parents - Scholastic has put together a site with seven tips to help parents spark the love of reading with their children.

Recommended Titles by Age and Topic

American Library Association: Recommended Reading - Children - A variety of books lists recommended for children from award winning titles to notable books to blogs with book reviews.

American Library Association: Recommended Reading - Teens - Various lists of recommended reading for teens from great graphic novels to college bound lists to picks for reluctant readers.

American Library Association: Recommended Reading - Celebrating Diversity - Books lists celebrating diversity with links from Belpré Award winners to GLBTQ titles to books that address the experiences of those with disabilities.  

Guys Read - A site devoted to encouraging boys to become readers with blogs about getting guys to read and great recommendations.

New York Times Bestseller lists - Under the children's section see the most popular picture books, chapter books, teen books and series.
