It is my belief that all students can learn and achieve with the proper guidance, respect and caring people by their side.  These are the goals I set for myself, and what I believe will lead us to achieving our “Best Year Ever”.

I am a wife and mother of three wonderful children, Evan, Emily, and Natalie.  I have been blessed to watch them each grow into wonderful young adults.  Evan graduated college in July with an MBA at Heidelberg University in Ohio. Emily (Evan's twin sister) finished up her final semester at Western Michigan University in December with a marketing major and a business management minor. She is currently working in the Ohio area. Time sure does fly!  Natalie, our youngest, is off to MSU to begin her third year in the business college.  Each of my children have benefited from the wonderful teachers and staff of the Okemos Public Schools.  I am proud to be part of this amazing district.

I love teaching upper elementary students because of their thirst for knowledge and their ability to delve deeper into the subject matter they are learning about.  5th grade students are becoming more independent, yet they will still occasionally give hugs, or draw wonderful pictures for me to put up on my classroom walls.  What a wonderful age!

My Bachelor of Science in Education Degree is from the University of Cincinnati with a minor in history.  I have continued to further my education with a concentration in reading and literacy through Marygrove College since moving to Michigan in 1998.  I worked as a substitute teacher in the Okemos Public School District for ten years and am very familiar with the curriculum across the grade levels here in Okemos.

I am truly looking forward to our exciting year together!  Welcome to Kinawa 5-6!
