House Bill 4671 would repeal the law that bans districts from starting school before Labor Day unless they receive a waiver from the state. It is now before the full House for debate and while it was expected to come up on Sept 6, it was postponed. This bill will allow, but not require, districts to start school before Labor Day. It would return the choice to a local decision without having to ask the state for permission.

The House will meet again the week of Sept 12. We strongly encourage you to contact your Representative and urge them to support this bill and ask for a vote.

    Take Action!
