    Joi Thompson attended Michigan State University for her undergraduate degree in English Education and a minor in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). After graduation, Miss Thompson began her career in education with Lansing Public Schools and Kentwood Public Schools as an English teacher. While working as an English teacher, Miss Thompson earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health & School Counseling from Spring Arbor University.

    Miss Thompson joined the OHS Counseling Department in the fall of 2023 and has enjoyed getting to know the Okemos community. When she is not working, you can find Miss Thompson spending time with family, going to a concert, or catching a flight.

    1. Miss Thompson has traveled to 12 countries and 3 continents.
    2. Miss Thompson is fluent in Spanish and Chinese.
    3. I've never seen any of the Star Wars movies.
