• 2024 AP Exam Registration

2024 AP Exam registration will take place September 5-29, 2023.  This is only for students who will be taking Advanced Placement exams in May 2024 (current OHS and Michigan Virtual AP students and students planning to self-study this year).  Registering for AP Exams at Okemos High School is a two-part process.  If students do not complete both steps, they will not be registered for exams. Testing is open to any students that attend Okemos High School or live within the Okemos Public School's district.

Step 1: Students will log in/create an account at www.totalregistration.net/ap/232850.  Students will pay for exams through Total Registration.

    • The cost is $95/exam.  Families can pay online through Total Registration or mail a check to Total Registration by September 29, 2023.  Payment through the school is not available.

    • Families who are approved for free/reduced lunch can mark the appropriate box and will need to pay $5 per AP exam by September 29, 2023 . Payment is also handled through TotalRegistration. Families can apply for free/reduced lunch through the OPS Food Service site.

    • Families requesting financial assistance (that do not qualify for free/reduced lunch) can contact cori.akers@okemosk12.net.

    • Students will receive their AP Join Code once registration is complete through Total Registration (this includes Michigan Virtual students, self-study students, and any homeschool students that reside within the Okemos School district).

Step 2: Students will need to go to myap.collegeboard.org and log into your College Board account.

    • Enter your Join Code(s) once you are in your College Board account and complete the required information.

    • Students in OHS AP classes may have already completed this step, especially if your teacher is using AP Classroom.

    • Students who have already taken the PSAT, SAT, or an AP exam already have a College Board account.  If you do not remember your College Board account log in, you will need to call 888-225-5427 for help.

*Please note that there are limited spots for the AP Chinese and Japanese exams.  Registration is handled on a first come-first serve basis.  Priority is given to OHS students and will be based on TotalRegistration registrations.

**The College Board is once again charging $40 late fees for each exam ordered after the deadline as well as a $40 exam cancellation fee for exams canceled after the order deadline. These fees also apply to any students receiving financial assistance.

  • The window for all 2024-2025 application-based courses, including all Advanced Placement courses, Science Research, Journalism and Yearbook, as well as advanced music classes, will take place in January 2024.

Links to applications will be posted in Google Classroom and on this website in January.

  • Advanced Placement (AP) Courses Offered at OHS

OHS offers the following courses, as approved by the College Board through the AP Audit: Art, Biology, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Chemistry, Computer Science A, Computer Science Principles, English Literature, French Language, German Language, Spanish Language, Statistics, World History, United States Government, and United States History.

OHS does not limit the number of AP courses a student may enroll in, but it is necessary to complete the application process.  AP course applications for the following school year are made available at the end of January.  Students are informed of selections in early February, well ahead of course registration in March.

Students who are accepted and enroll in an AP course at OHS commit to taking the AP exam in May and are required to submit payment before tests will be ordered. Students who qualify for free/reduced lunch are eligible for an AP fee waiver and can take the test at no charge.

If a student withdraws from an Advanced Placement course, the colleges and universities to which the student has already applied will be informed of the change in the student’s schedule.

Course descriptions may be found in the OHS Guide to Curriculum. Okemos High School welcomes students from other high schools seeking a testing location and will administer tests for which we do not offer an AP course, though requests must occur during our AP exam registration window.

More information about OHS AP policies can be found in the Guide to Curricululm.

  • AP Exam Scores

Students must set-up or log-in with their College Board accounts to utilize the online score reporting services. Please visit AP Scores College Board to set up your account.

  • AP Credit Policies

There are many benefits to taking an AP course, including the possibility of earning college credit.  Before registering for multiple AP exams, students are advised to research the various credit policies at colleges of interest. You may find, for example, that the college of your choice will not grant credit for both AP English Literature and AP English Language. Visit the AP Credit Policy Search tool provided by the College Board.
